Swimming In The Branch
I know, I know…how is it already swim season!? Well we are Texans after all, so the first hot and sunny day (which can start as early as February here) gets the kids itching for pool time. Therefore, it’s never too early to start preparing a summer swim schedule!
Whether it’s swim lessons or swim team – the Bulverde/Spring Branch area has you covered for even your littlest fishy!
Whether at your own home, your community pool or in any one of our many glorious swimming holes, chances are you spend a lot of your down time during the summer cooling off in the water. Swimming safety should always be top of mind before diving in and when it comes to the timid swimmer, better safe than sorry.
So for training those soon to be expert swimmers, Swim Texas has been a local go to source for swim lessons in our area since 1972. Located off Rebecca Creek Road just a few miles off 311, the mother-daughter duo teaches group, private and semi-private lessons. The group sessions start early June and are being scheduled now so book soon and look forward to a summer of safe swimming!
Winning Waters has been creating quite a buzz in the area lately. Coach Carol opened the first indoor swimming facility in our area and teaches all ages and abilities. Winning Waters offers private, semi-private and group lessons as well as stroke training for competitive swimmers. In addition to classes there is an open swim time and swim camps are offered monthly.
Ok so you’re no novice to the water and neither are your kiddos! Well kick it up a notch – how about the swim team? Bulverde/Spring Branch has an exciting and successful community of swimming competitors and they start young! The Smithson Valley Sea Dragons begin the season with practices in May and swim meets all through June. The 6 & Under category hosts the young swimmer who is passionate in the pool with groups through high school. And if one month of swim team just isn’t enough, The San Antonio Wave has a team in Spring Branch that swims and competes year-round. Pure dedication is expected with practices from 3 to 7 days a week depending on the team level.
